BASEMENT BUGS: A Call To Arms For Horror Fans
Greetings to the Blouzefest community! I've been on hiatus from my film site Get To The Chopper! Seems that this last half-a-year has been a stampede of creative activity for me.
And I've neglected Get To The Chopper! to actually try contribute to the world of film - specifically, in this case, the kind of horror film that you'd see accidentally as an eight or nine year old and still be talking about it in bars when you're thirty saying 'holy shit, I REMEMBER that movie, and I'm STILL freaked out by bugs because of it."
Yup. Bugs. Real ones. Real rats. Real scares.
If your worst fear is being trapped in a dark place and unable to stop things from crawling on you... well, this one's strictly for the horror community. Making a film that would've been one I'd have worn out on VHS, and having horror fans be part of making a practical effects horror film with little-to-zero digital effects, and being able to bring you an elegant, unsettling, very REAL horror film would be a privilege.
BASEMENT BUGS was an idea I've had for years, inspired by a certain apartment building in Los Angeles and how creepy it would be if it were empty from a building fumigation. And if a man sneaked into a basement for selfish reasons. And if that man had an accident that left him helpless. And what would happen when the fumigation occurred... and what creepy-crawlies would come out of hiding. Or how many.
I decided to just get it out of my brain and onto paper, just for fun, and the script garnered a lot of support very quickly. We decided to try and make it. We've got the locations down. We've got Mr. Spielberg's bug wrangler. We've got a great cast, and the script's a very creepy piece of work. And we're almost half-way to our goal.
We'd be privileged and humbled to have your support. Come check our Kickstarter link below (copy-and-paste, please).
Feel free to ask questions - stick around for the updates - and come be a part of a very real throwback to the kind of horror you just don't see much of nowadays...
